NotALawyer is not a law firm and does not operate as a lawyer referral service; we do not select, rank, or recommend any specific attorney. The Service is designed to help individuals understand their legal situation in plain English before deciding whether to engage an attorney.

You may use portions of the Service without creating an account. To access certain features (conversation history, saved letters), you must sign in using Google OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes.

The AI responses provided by the Service are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated content. You assume full responsibility for any decisions made based on AI-generated content and should verify important legal information with a licensed attorney.
Attorneys listed on the platform ("Legal Partners") are independent legal professionals and are not employees or agents of NotALawyer. We verify bar credentials but do not supervise legal services, guarantee outcomes, or endorse any specific attorney. Any attorney-client relationship you form is solely between you and the attorney.
Attorneys who register as Legal Partners agree to maintain an active bar license, provide accurate profile information, respond professionally to inquiries from prospective clients introduced through the directory, and comply with all applicable rules of professional conduct for attorneys.
Attorney partner subscriptions are billed monthly at the rate displayed at signup. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time and will not renew after the current billing period. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. All fees are in U.S. dollars.
The Service, including its design, text, graphics, and underlying software, is owned by NotALawyer and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. AI-generated letter drafts created through the Service may be used by you for personal legal purposes.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NOTALAWYER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NotALawyer and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in English.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
