Court Orders California Cities To Stop Seizing Cars

The California Supreme Court has ruled that the situation that has been going on in Stockton and Oakland California must stop. The cities have been seizing the cars of people arrested for crimes involving prostitution and drugs.

This practice of seizing the cars has been very controversial, since they were seizing and at times even selling the cars of people who had not been convicted of any crimes. Just being accused of the crime was previously enough for the car to be seized, causing the owner to have to fight to try to get it back.

The California Supreme Court has finally ruled that after over 10 years of cars being seized during arrests, that the cities do not have the authority to do that. Innocent until proven guilty, right?
