The final 2 co-defendants in the Micheal Vick dogfighting case have pleaded guilty, but Vick himself has not yet taken a plea deal in the case.
Vick is accused of owning a home in which dog fighting occurred, as well as being a participant in the events. Vick has said he didn’t know about the dog fights at his property but his co-defendants have said that he did and also ordered the death of at least 1 dog by electrocution.
More charges against Vick are expected, including gambling charges. Vick was expected to make a plea by yesterday’s deadline, but it hasn’t happened yet. Sources say that he is trying to make a deal that will allow him to playing NFL football.
Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. How many people want to see Vick still reap the rewards and huge salary of being a professional athlete after seeing these sickening things he’s allegedly done to animals? I don’t.

I am horrified by the details of dogfighting - dogs tortured, beaten, starved, maimed, electrocuted, drowned, etc. People involved in this crime have serious, intense psychological problems, and need to be helped immediately so that they may not kill again. I am glad to know that Michael Vick’s crimes are being taken seriously by the public - there is no excuse for animal cruelty.
Where do we go from here? People around the world will be celebrating and honoring animals on World Animal Day, October 4, 2007. For more information, or, if you would like to post a prayer for animals born into the cruel and inhumane world of dogfighting, please visit our site.
Thank-you!
